Class Styles

 Kati has developed her own unique teaching style based on a variety of yoga traditions including, Iyengar, Ashtanga/Vinyasa and Kundalini.  She takes her students into a dynamic multi-dimensional flow, breaking through rigidity and stiffness; she infuses her classes with penetrating breath work. Kati’s classes are playful and challenging, intelligently blending a vinyasa flowing class with healthy alignment. She addresses individual’s needs and limitations, creating a safe environment for her students, guiding them through physical, emotional and spiritual dimensions. She believes that yoga is a powerful way to free the body and mind from the self limitations we impose on our selves and that through practice we are able to get in touch with the very essence of who we are.

Ashtanga yoga is named after the eight limbs of yoga mentioned in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and which is often promoted as a modern-day form of classical Indian yoga. This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. Vinyasa yoga synchronizes movement and breath in a flowing sequence of asanas (postures) that encourages flexibility, strength, circulation and a calm mind. Teaches us how to exhibit qualities of a yogi, not just in our practice but in our daily lives. A form of Hatha yoga, Iyengar is one of the oldest forms of yoga. Aside from the basic benefits that any yoga practice gives us, Iyengar uses props that can help with precision, put less stress on your muscles, and are essential if you’re recovering from an injury.
